On Tuesday, November 9 the CAA hosted the 2021 Central Ohio Multifamily Exposition returning after postponing from 2020 due to COVID-19 to Kasich Hall. The large, open space provided ease of movement, distancing and comfortable conversation giving the 100 exhibitors more room to promote products and services while talking with the Primary member attendees. This year’s theme, Wild West, allowed exhibitors to embrace their inner cowboy while showcasing their products and services. Each year the Expo puts CAA Associate members at the forefront and allows them the opportunity to shine. This year many did so in cowboy hats, bandanas and using lassos and horseshoes as games and props. Associate Members easily demonstrate why ‘doing business with Associate Members is good business’ in an atmosphere away from the office while participating in fun and games. Some members even took the opportunity to use their games for a good cause, Bailfish Services LLC donated $2500 to the CAA Community Assistance Foundation through a generous putt-putt game. As in years past, vendors had several opportunities to add additional promotion with event sponsorships during the show to attract attendees to their booths. All attendees started by picking up their Fire & Ice Heating and Air Conditioning bag, their AmRent lanyard and their Wagon Wheel traffic card. When the card was completed, attendees could return for a chance to win the $500 Grand Prize. From there, visitors moseyed through the show floor playing games, posing for pictures, and collecting their stamps. Once in the heart of the tradeshow attendees could stop at the Lowe’s Pro Supply chuck wagon lounge for a snack or a quick break or visit the Perq and Choice Property Resources Saloon. Parking for those who pre-registered was provided by the Affordable Housing Trust of Columbus and Franklin County. Before the show even started some members took advantage of the Building Better Teams education session featuring Scott Daly of Focus3 sponsored by Unified Residential. Those in attendance learned how to advance their community as a team and build for future success. Three Magnificent Seven prizes were given away during the day. Kendra Miller with BRG Apartments sponsored the first prize, pulling Rob Banks with Homestead Companies out of the hopper for a $100 Visa Gift Card. Becky Hart with Valet Living sponsored the next prize drawling pulling Sandee Huffman from F&W Properties as the winner of the air pods. The final prize was drawn by Megan Batty of Sherwin Williams Paint Company, drawing Rob Banks with Homestead Companies as the winner of their ear buds. All prize drawings built up to the final Grand Prize drawing of $500 sponsored by Chadwell Supply. Trisha Hendrickson had the honor of drawing the lucky name, pulling David Sethi of Landis Properties out of the hopper. The Expo provides site staff through owners an enjoyable few hours away from the office and, maybe the opportunity to win a prize or two while conducting a bit of business. Thank you to all our vendors and sponsors who made the day a resounding success after a year away. If you couldn’t attend this year’s expo visit the CAA Facebook page to see pictures of what you missed, then, be sure to look for information soon announcing the 2022 date!
